A sample story · Ava & Theodore are our imaginary founding couple — yours would be entirely your own
the story of

Ava & Theodore

Nine years, four cities, one dog, and a wedding under October trees — kept in one place, in order, forever.

This is a real, navigable demonstration · every chapter below works

Chapter one · September 2017

it began with

The wrong coffee order

Ava ordered a flat white. The barista called out “Theodore.” Both of them reached for the cup, and Theodore — to his eternal credit — let her keep it and bought another, on the condition that she defend her opinion that autumn is overrated. She lost the argument. He lost the next nine, on purpose.

Chapter two · 2017 – 2019

the early years

Two cities, one long train line

Eighteen months of Friday trains and Sunday goodbyes. The chapter nobody photographs well and everybody remembers best: platform waves, borrowed jumpers, phone calls that ended because a battery did, never because the conversation had.

Platform 4, again
The birthday she took the last train home
Sunday, 17:42
His city, her weekend
The jumper in question

Chapter three · March 2020

a major milestone

The flat, and then the dog

One set of keys, one van, forty boxes — and eight weeks later, a terrier named Biscuit who runs this household to this day. The chapter where “your place” and “my place” quietly became “home.”

Keys, day one
The empty flat echo test
Biscuit, week one, already in charge
First dinner on the floor
The plant that survived

Chapter four · June 2025

the question

Back at Merchant Street

He took her back to the café under the pretense of a walk. The barista — briefed for weeks — wrote a name on a cup that wasn’t hers: “Ava, look up.” He was already on one knee. She said yes before he finished the sentence, which he maintains should count as an interruption.

The cup that asked
Seven seconds after yes
The ring, and the shaking hands
Phone calls to four parents
Champagne on a Tuesday

Chapter five · 2025 – 2026

engaged

Sixteen months of happy logistics

Venue visits, cake tastings that got out of hand, one spreadsheet with fourteen tabs, and an engagement party where both grandmothers danced. Planning, it turns out, is its own chapter — and worth keeping.

Venue three — the one
Cake tasting no. 2 of, ahem, 4
The grandmothers, dancing
Invitations, signed & sealed

Chapter six · 17 October 2026

the wedding day

Under the October trees

Ninety-two guests, one borrowed something blue, vows that made the officiant reach for her own tissue — and a golden hour that behaved exactly as commissioned. The photographer delivered 2,187 photographs. Every one of them is here, sorted into the day’s own little chapters: getting ready, the ceremony, the golden hour, the dance floor, after dark.

The first look — his face, mostly
Getting ready · 11:04
The aisle, both grandmothers crying
Golden hour, as commissioned
The dance floor at ten
Biscuit, ring bearer, unbriefed
The exit, sparklers, joy
After dark, shoes off
Voice note · Uncle Ray · 9:58 pm
“Ava, your grandfather would have straightened his tie three times and said nothing, and it would have meant everything. So: nothing. From both of us.”
Voice note · The best man · 11:34 pm
“Theo. THEO. You married her. Mission complete. This is what peaking looks like, enjoy it.”

Guest photos and voice notes arrive through the Guest Capture Portal — timestamped, sorted, and transcribed into the story.

Chapter seven · November 2026

the honeymoon

Twelve days of nowhere to be

The Amalfi coast, a rented Vespa neither of them will discuss, and the discovery that married breakfast tastes the same but somehow better. Added to the story from a beach, in fourteen minutes, through the backend.

The sea, showing off
Lemon groves & zero plans
The Vespa (no comment)
Married breakfast no. 3

Chapter eight · October 2027

one year on

Paper, appropriately

Dinner at Merchant Street — where else — and a first anniversary spent reading this very website aloud to each other, adding the year’s small chapters: the new job, the half-marathon, Biscuit’s brief modeling career. The story, doing what stories should: continuing.

One year, one candle
The anniversary re-read
Paper gifts, literal
Biscuit, professionally

Chapter nine · the future

to be continued

The next chapter is theirs to add

From the couple’s backend

The first child. The baptism. The tenth anniversary. Every future event joins the same timeline — added by Ava & Theo themselves, in minutes.
